When my husband returned from Afghanistan, we faced many challenges and changes. Looking back, I count it as a true blessing that we were able to grow together and come through that much stronger. Now we are passionate about helping fellow veterans in the many struggles they and their families face.
Sadly, the statistics say it all. Divorce, drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness, unemployment, and suicide are far too high and on the rise among veterans. Though there are a number of programs out there seeking to target these issues, still the need for support and advocacy is greater than ever, especially in our faith based organizations.
Below I have listed some websites to various organizations and resources for veterans and their families. From January 1 through March 31, I added one link per day as part of my #22Pushups90days challenge. Also feel free to contact me if you have a favorite veteran's organization or resource that you would like to see listed.
The official website for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
An organization that seeks to end homelessness among veterans by "shaping public policy, promoting collaboration, and building the capacity of service providers."

An organization connecting MARSOC and USMC combat veterans to help them transition smoothly from active military service into the civilian world.

The Brain Treatment Foundation is a non-profit organization supporting combat veterans who suffer from Traumatic Brain Injuries and Post Traumatic Stress.

Then it discusses new research findings as to what measures warriors can take to prevent such debilitations so they can stay in the fight, survive, and win, during the battle and after.
